Credit Unions Care Foundation Launches Car Raffle for 2012 Honda Civic

The Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia is asking credit unions to participate in its 2012 Car Raffle. Give your members the opportunity to win a 2012 Honda Civic EX, valued at more than $21,000. We'll even pay federal withholding taxes, bringing the total prize package to more than $28,370.

The Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia is asking credit unions to participate in its 2012 Car Raffle. Give your members the opportunity to win a 2012 Honda Civic EX, valued at more than $21,000.

"Credit unions have embraced the mission of the Foundation and we hope they will assist us by selling raffle tickets in their branches," said Foundation Chief Operating Officer David Miles.

A maximum of 5,000 tickets will be sold in the raffle, with the drawing slated for Sept. 30, 2012.

The lucky winner not only walks away with a new Honda Civic, the Foundation will pick up the vast majority of taxes, bringing the prize package closer to $28,370.

Credit unions can order books of raffle tickets by contacting the Virginia Credit Union League at 800.768.3344, ext. 606 or e-mail R.B. Martin at rbmartin@vacul.org. The Foundation will also provide 28-inch-by-22-inch promotional posters and letter-sized teller displays.

The Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia was established in May 2009, and has disbursed more than $150,000 for the causes it supports during its first three years of operation. You can learn more about the Foundation online at www.creditunionscarefoundation.org.

House rules for the raffle are available below:

  1. All tickets are $25. Any individual may purchase no more than 100 tickets. The maximum number of tickets sold will be 5,000.  Odds of winning are dependent on total ticket sales.
  2. Raffle prize is one 2012 Honda Civic valued at $21,275. We will pay federal withholding taxes for the winner making the total prize value $28,367. Winner is responsible for licensing and all other applicable taxes.
  3. Drawing will be held in Lynchburg, VA at the office of the Virginia Credit Union League on September 30, 2012. Winner need not be present to win.
  4. Winner must claim the prize within 30 days of notification and arrange for pickup from Valley Honda of Staunton.
  5. Tickets purchased are nonrefundable.
  6. By purchasing a ticket, you expressly disclaim and release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia and the Virginia Credit Union League from any and all liability associated with conducting the raffles. The Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia and the Virginia Credit Union League reserve the right to conduct the drawings in a manner it deems reasonable. The decision of the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia and the Virginia Credit Union League shall be final on all matters concerning this raffle. The Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia and the Virginia Credit Union League reserve the right to use all reasonable efforts within their discretion to verify authenticity and the official winning entrant.
